To get reproducible results it is very important that the headspace vials and caps form a tight seal. In headspace analysis, the sample is sealed into the vial and heated until the concentration in the gas phase is in equilibrium with the concentration in the liquid phase.

Headspace ND18 vials are available in two different sizes (10 and 20 ml) in amber or clear version. The vials have a precision thread for easy handling (quick open and close) and have a round bottom. During the heating process a rounded bottom vial is more resistant and robust to high pressure.

Headspace vials often come in larger volumes than the 2-mL vials used in many liquid sampling systems. Common offerings are 10-mL, 20-mL and 22-mL capacities. Larger vials accommodate larger sample volume and/or a larger headspace above that sample.
